So, yeah. I got to my head with a razor blade. See the results;


I don't look quite as bad as I thought I would.. but still probably not a hairstyle I'll keep.

Weird things about shaving my head;

• Everyone assume you're doing Shave for a Cure
  
• The feeling of cold air is more pronounced round the previous "hairline" than the main section of my head
  
• I found I have a vein on my head that raises slightly when I've been running hard
  
• The feeling of fingers on my head
  
• The way that when I dry my head with a towel, the stubble grabs to the towel like nothing I've experienced before
  
• Clippering takes about 5-10mins. Shaving takes about 40mins.
  
• Rubbing sunscreen into my scalp
  
• The fact that none of my palliative patients (most whom are on chemo) are bald
  
• Everyone knows it's me and no one doesn't recognise me (I at least expected one or two double takes)
  

So, tomorrow I talk to uni person about a PhD. So, by tomorrow night I should be able to let you know whether I'm a PhD student or not (of course, not til after I finish up with my jobs in any case).

How cool is my profession though. One day I work in research, the next in policy, the next I'm teaching, the next I work with children, the next I work corporately, the next I work with people who are dying, the next I drive around visiting people in their homes and the next I am seeing people in a fast-paced emergency deparment environment.

I'm working on writing a little guitar song at the moment.. one the one hand I'm obsessed with it, and on the other I know it's not very good. It's fun at least.. just not something that other people should ever hear.

I just had a mug of chai tonight. What a great lifestyle choice. I think chai is going to become my "lifestyle drink", taking over from my previous addictions to lime juice in water, soda water and before that Bundaberg ginger beer.
